****************************************************** PR # 32255 We propose to obtain spectra of the massive ( 400 solar masses / yr) cooling flow in the cluster A2597 at z = 0.0824. As well as having one of the larger known mass deposition rates, the cooling flow in A2597 is a particularly large fraction of the total X-ray luminosity. SIS spectra will determine the column density of absorbing material intrinsic to the cooling flow (providing clear constraints as the galactic column is low), and determine the mass deposition rate and detailed spectral signature of the cooling gas. SIS and GIS spectra outside the cluster core will determine the elemental abundance and temperature as a function of radius and hence the gas and total mass. ******************************************************
