****************************************************** PR # 41083 Recent ASCA observations of supernova remnants in the Large Magellanic Cloud show that the recent supernova rates of type Ia and type II are equal (1 : 1) and absolute rates of Ia and II are larger and smaller, respectively, than expected before. However it is most likely that young type II remnants are difficult to be observed because they explode in the low density cavity created by strong stellar wind of the progenitor star. We propose a seach for such a young type II supernova remnants to uncover the "missing link" of type II remnant evolution. ******************************************************
