****************************************************** PR # 41122 We have found that the thermal energy per unit mass of the hot gas in early type galaxies is greater than the stellar thermal energy per unit mass. The excess gas temperature increases as the stellar velocity dispersion decreases, which suggests that there may be additional mechanisms to the gravitational heating. This heating mechanisms may not be stellar origin like supernova explosions. To reveal this mechanisms, we propose the observations of early type galaxies which have low velocity dispersions and low blue band luminosities. ******************************************************
