****************************************************** PR # 41195 We propose a 60 ks ASCA observation of the Seyfert 2 galaxy Mrk 3. The heavily absorbed X-ray continuum of this galaxy shows a large amplitude variability on a timescale of a few years. Previous observations suggest the strong iron K line (EW = 500-1000 eV) has changed in response to the continuum variation. Mrk 3 is the only object knwon, showing such significant continuum and line flux variation. Our main aim of this observation is to follow the long-term continuum variability, and to measure the accompanying line flux change, in order to address a location of the line emitter. ******************************************************
