****************************************************** PR # 42038 X-ray emission holds crucial clues to rotationally-powered pulsars' energetics and interaction with their surroundings, yet the paucity of known sources and the surprising inhomogeneity of their properties has left models poorly constrained. Only by discovering new sources will progress be made. We request ASCA time to observe a newly-discovered fast pulsar, PSR J1105-6107, an excellent candidate for detectable X-ray emission, and a possible counterpart to EGRET source 2EG J1103-6106. The large possible absorption toward the source makes ASCA the X-ray instrument of choice. This proposal is part of a coordinated multiwavelength effort, which includes single dish and interferometric radio observations, and CGRO/EGRET observations. ******************************************************
