****************************************************** PR # 42080 The unusual morphology of the supernova remnant 3C400.2 suggests that it may consist of a SNR re-energizing an existing cavity created by an earlier SNR. High resolution radio images show two interacting shells, while the Einstein IPC and the ROSAT PSPC images reveal X-ray emission from the entire interior of the two remnants, with a peak near their interaction. Optical images also exhibit enhanced emission in this area. ASCA SIS observations of 3C400.2 will provide information on temperature variation, ionization state and elementary abundances, and assist to explain the unusual morphology of the SNR. 3C400.2 was observed in AO3 with 4CCD mode, but was out of the field of view because of a pointing error. Here we are proposing another ASCA observation of 3C400.2 with 2CCD mode. ******************************************************
