****************************************************** PR # 42090 We propose a 60 ks ASCA observation of G299.2-2.9, first discovered as an extended x-ray source in the Einstein Slew Survey, and recently identified as a supernova remnant in the ROSAT All-Sky Survey. The x-ray characteristics appear to imply a very young and somewhat underluminous remnant, perhaps displaying a centrally bright morphology. Our proposed observation will definitively determine if the emission is characteristic of a young ejecta-dominated remnant, or a moderate age remnant whose distance has been underestimated. ******************************************************
