   PR # 42145
   The ROSAT PSPC has found a large spread in spectral indices of low z
   quasars: 0.5<alpha_E<3.5. While many "flat" (often hard X-ray
   selected) quasars have been observed above 2 keV, most of the "steep"
   PSPC quasar has not been, so far, observed in the 2-10 keV energy
   range. This proposal is to observe with ASCA two of the brightest
   quasars known with alpha_PSPC>2 (and small H_beta FWHM and large FeII
   equivalent width) to investigate whether the steep spectrum extends
   up to 10 keV or whether they have a strong spectral flattening above
   2 keV. Both possibilities have important consequences for current
   quasar models.
