****************************************************** PR # 42168 The blazar, PKS 1510-089, is a high polarization quasar at a redshift of 0.361. It is highly variable in the optical and radio continuum and polarized flux, and has a radio jet indicating beaming. Beamed high energy gamma-ray emission is also implied by its detection by EGRET. Its EXOSAT X-ray spectrum had shown a remarkably intense line emission at 6.4 keV (rest frame) presumably due to Fe fluorescence from an isotropically emitting source of X-rays. A 20 ksec ASCA observation will enable spectral index of its X-ray continuum to be measured accurately, and determine the line energy and strength thus providing clues to its origin. The study will help in quantifying the degree of beaming and the presence of matter around the central engine of this intriguing source. ******************************************************
