****************************************************** PR # 43006 We propose to carry simultaneous observations of the bright contact binary 44 Boo with ASCA and with the EUVE satellite. The simultaneous observations, thanks to the complementary contraints supplied by the different passbands of the two instruments, will allow us to study the differential emission distribution and the metal abundance in the corona of a contact binary system, over the complete temperature range from hundred thousand to several tens of million degrees. This will allow us to address for the first time through simultaneous observations the apparent incompatibility between the ASCA and EUVE derived DEM of several active binaries. Additionally, the period of the target is short enough and the count rate high enough as to allow phase-resolved spectroscopy. ******************************************************
