   We propose deep ASCA observations of the nearby spiral galaxy NGC
   4826 and the nearby interacting galaxy pair NGC 4485/4490. This will
   provide detailed spectral information relating to the starburst
   activity evident in both systems. We will also search for a hard
   power law spectral component indicative of low-luminosity nuclear
   activity in the galaxies.
