****************************************************** PR # 48 Abell 370 is a distant (z=0.373), rich, X-ray luminous (1.3e45 erg/s) clusterin which exhibits (gravitationally lensed) arcs and has an anomalously large spire the first broad-band(E>3.5 keV) X-ray spectrum of this object. The spectrum will be of sufficientsignal:noise ratio (~15,000 counts/4 telescopes) to check for the presence of multiple temperature components in the gas, and it will probablyplace interesting upper limits on Fe K emission and Fe abundance. Theseresults can be compared with predictions of models of the mass distributionderived from optical studies of the arcs. In conjunction with ASCA observationsof other distant clusters, these data will illuminate processes of clusterevolution. ******************************************************
