************************************************************************* 51009 Galactic Ridge Emission (GRE) is the emission from optically thin thermal plasma spread over the inner galactic disk with a scale height of 100pc. It is still a matter of debate whether it originates from truely diffusive gas filling the entire disk or from superposition of individual X-ray sources. We propose to observe nearby single white dwarfs in order to detect hard X-rays caused by accretion of the interstellar matter. According to a simple estimation, the integration of this emission over the entire inner galactic disk can explain the amount and spectral properties of GRE. *************************************************************************
