   We propose to carry out ASCA observations of fields containing
   prominent unidentified EGRET sources near the galactic plane. The
   nature of these gamma-ray sources is currently unknown, and information
   provided by ASCA will greatly help in their interpretation. Our
   observing program is related to ongoing projects carried out by our
   group involving archival and current EGRET and BATSE data on these
   sources. The source 2EG J1813-12 is of particular interest because of
   its observed gamma-ray variability.
