************************************************************************* 53003 We propose to observe two coronal X-ray sources identified with super- metal-rich (SMR) late-type stars, in order to search for any evidence of high metal abundances in the emitting plasma. The two targets have been selected in order to be bright enough to get relatively high signal-to-noise SIS spectra with reasonable exposure times. The observations of these stars, whose photospheric abundances are well determined trough high-resolution optical spectroscopy, will help to test current hypotheses about the link between photospheric and coronal plasma abundances. In particular, the proposed observations will provide an unprecedented opportunity to test whether the SMR stars are affected by the "Metal Abundance Deficiency" syndrome, discovered in other coronal sources observed by ASCA. *************************************************************************
