************************************************************************* 53010 We propose to observe with ASCA the recently discovered SNR G189.6+3.3 in two regions : the easternmost elongated structure for 30 ks and the north rim for 40 ks. ASCA observations will provide a new insight on G189.6+3.3 as well as on its relation within the IC 443 complex. Our first goal is to examine the structure of temperature, non-equilibrium ionization state and abundances to determine if the elongated structure belongs to the remnant and if not, to identify its nature. Our second goal is to investigate the plasma conditions in G189.6+3.3 and to establish if the remnant is physically interacting or not with IC 443. The spatially resolved spectroscopic capability of ASCA is required to achieve these objectives. *************************************************************************
