   We propose deep ASCA observations of two starburst systems. The first
   target is the nearby spiral galaxy NGC 4826 which exhibits vigorous
   star formation in its inner disk in addition to a LINER nucleus. The
   second is the nearby interacting galaxy pair NGC 4485/4490, in which a
   tidal interaction appears to have triggered a recent burst of star
   formation in both galaxies. The objective is to contrast the X-ray
   properties of these sources with those of other well-known starburst
   systems and, in each case, to search for a hidden low-luminosity active
   galactic nucleus.
