************************************************************************* 53022 We propose 40 ksec ASCA observations of two Seyfert 2 galaxies, MKN 78 and NGC5674. Both sources have X-ray characteristics which make them peculiar among Seyfert 2 galaxies: MKN 78 is underluminous in the 2-10 keV band based on optical-infrared properties as well as to a possible BATSE detection, while NGC5674 is a flat X-ray spectrum source. These two objects cannot be easily explained within the framework of the unified theory of Seyferts: either they are galaxies intrinsically different than Seyferts 1 or the unified theory has to be modified to accomodate both of them. ASCA data will provide a unique possibility to understand the origin of the emission in both sources and to highlight any difference from Seyferts 1. *************************************************************************
