   SNR 0540-693 is similar in age and luminosity to the Crab Nebula and
   itspulsar, although the SNR shell is visible (optically and with
   ROSAT) and thepulsar pulse profile is very different. Calibration aims
   including timingchecks on a fast pulsar and separation of spatially
   unresolved, spectrallydistinct components. Scientifically, we will
   determine the pulsed, non-pulsedsynchrotron, and thermal remnant
   spectra, and map the surrounding diffuseemission.
