************************************************************************* 61010 ASCA has proven to be very powerful for pulsar observations thanks to its imaging, spectroscopic, and timing capabilities in high energy band. Examples are new detections of pulsar-wind nebulae from old pulsars, and discovery of the first magnetospheric X-ray pulsation from a millisecond pulsar. We propose to expand the ASCA sample of pulsars with a systematic survey project, starting with 8 pulsars in this AO. With this project, we investigate the characteristics of the X-ray emission from the neutron star surface, the pulsar magnetosphere, and the pulsar-wind nebula, and their dependence on age, spin period, magnetic field, and pulsar environment. The goal is to understand the acceleration and emission mechanism of pulsars and their evolution. *************************************************************************
