************************************************************************* 61082 Because of its proximity, SN1987A is providing us with a unique opportunity to study an SNR in its very early phase of evolution. Soft X-rays probably from the interaction between the SN ejecta and the CSM formed by the pre-SN mass ejection have been observed by ROSAT and ASCA, of which flux has been steadily increasing. Recent optical brightening of part of the ring observed by the HST may be implying that part of the ejecta has reached the ring, and X-ray observation is important to detect the X-ray brightening. Search for the putative pulsar will be carried out as well. *************************************************************************
