************************************************************************* 63013 We have recently discovered a 12 min periodic signal in the X-ray flux emitted by 1WGA J1958+3232, an X-ray source near the Galactic plane. These pulsations likely arise from the rotation of an accreting magnetic compact star, either a white dwarf in an intermediate polar cataclysmic variable, or a neutron star in an X-ray binary. The source is located in a very crowded region and more than 15 stars with V<19 are contained within the 30" radius X-ray error circle. We propose here a 25 ks ASCA observation aimed at: (a) confirming the X-ray flux level of the source and its 12 min periodicity, and (b) study for the first time, the spectrum continuum above 2 keV. *************************************************************************
