****************************************************** PR # 7 This region of the LMC contains a bright enhancement of diffuse emission whichcan be characterized as a superbubble breaking out of the plane of the galaxy. It is near to LMC X-1, which will be visible in the GIS during the observation. The calibration goal is to demonstrate that it is possible to subtract outthe extended wings of a bright source and study the diffuse emission by usingthe GIS spectrum and time variability of LMC X-1 to remove its influence fromthe SIS image. Scientifically, we want to characterize the spatially varyingspectral distribution of the hot diffuse gas to understand its origin. ******************************************************
