************************************************************************* 72103 Soft X-ray selection picks out unabsorbed objects which have strong ``soft excesses''. This energetically important component, likely to be the high energy tail of the accretion disk spectrum, plays an important role in production of optical emission lines and hard X-ray spectra. Proposed ASCA observations of the 4 remaining objects in a complete sample of 20 soft X-ray selected AGN will yield hard X-ray spectra and variability information, the first from these bright Seyfert galaxies. Statistical analysis of these results with an existing database of multiwaveband and optical properties will be performed. Resulting trends will allow us to significantly advance our understanding of the relationships between the soft excess, multiwaveband, emission line and hard X-ray properties. *************************************************************************
