************************************************************************* 72141 The as yet unexplained difference between radio-loud and radio-quiet active galaxies (AGNs) is a fundamental issue in our understanding of these objects. Eventhough a number of tantalizing correlations are known to exist between the radio and optical properties of AGNs, the situation in the X-ray band is unclear. Observations suggest systematic differences between the X-ray spectra of radio-quiet and radio-loud quasars, but it is unknown if these extend to the less luminous Seyfert and broad-line radio galaxies (BLRGs). We therefore propose to observe a few carefully-chosen BLRGs with the aim of measuring their continuum shape and Fe line properties. With these observations we will double the number of BLRGs observed by ASCA and compare their X-ray properties with those of Seyferts. *************************************************************************
