************************************************************************* 73002 We propose to observe two coronal X-ray sources identified with super- metal-rich (SMR) late-type stars, in order to search for any evidence of high metal abundances in the emitting plasma. This program, started in AO5, has already yielded positive results for at least one of the two targets already observed by ASCA. Analysis of the X-ray spectra of these stars, whose photospheric abundances are well determined through high-resolution optical spectroscopy, will help to test current hypotheses about the link between photospheric and coronal plasma abundances. Moreover, the proposed observations provide the opportunity to study the properties of coronal emission in stars with characteristics quite different from the many active coronal sources observed by ASCA so far. *************************************************************************
