************************************************************************* 73005 We propose to obtain phase-resolved ASCA observations of the dwarf nova OY Car during quiescence. If an X-ray eclipse of the boundary layer is seen, we will use the eclipse geometry to constrain the size and location of the X-ray emission relative to the white dwarf. We will use spectral modelling to measure the local column density at different orbital phases in a search for azimuthal asymmetry of the absorbing material. We will compare the values obtained from our X-ray measurements with those deduced from the ``iron curtain'' seen in the HST UV spectra, thereby resolving the apparent discrepancies between previous non-simultaneous measurements. This proposal is Time Critical because we are requesting HST time simultaneous with the ASCA observations. *************************************************************************
