************************************************************************* 82011 AR Lac is an eclipsing RS CVn binary system of 2 days orbital period which has been extensively studied by most X-ray satellites since Einstein, but typically in observations that are similar or shorter in length to its orbital period. This limitation has compromised previous attempts to do eclipse-mapping studies of the spatial distribution of the coronal plasma in this system, because of the difficulty of distinguishing between transient events and persistent spatial structures. In this proposal, we ask for 360 ksec of exposure time so as to observe 5 orbital periods of AR Lac which will allow us to eliminate this uncertainty. We will also study AR Lac's X-ray flare frequency, and do time-resolved (e.g., phase-binned) spectroscopy. *************************************************************************
