Hayabusa2 Near-Infrared Spectrometer (NIRS3)

Instrument Overview

The Near Infrared Spectromter (NIRS3) onboard the Hayabusa2 spacecraft is a point spectrometer that operates over the effective wavelength range of 1.8-3.2 microns with a 0.1 degree field-of-view. The primary goal of NIRS3 is to map the distribution of hydrated minerals on the target near-Earth asteroid 162173 Ryugu.

Contents

This archive contains the near-infrared spectral data acquired by NIRS3.
Files on this archive are organized into the directories below:

File Format

The NIRS3 raw and calibrated data files are presented in the FITS format. The FITS header includes information regarding the instrument status and observation parameters
The NIRS3 geometry data files including time and geometry information are presented in the CSV format. All fields are separated by commas.
The calibration data files are ASCII tables.

Naming Convention

The FITS and CSV files are named according to the convention:

hyb2_nirs3_yyyymmdd_ttt

where:
'hyb2_nirs3' = literal
yyyymmdd = observation date
ttt = data type ('raw', 'cal' or 'geo')
