Tanpopo space-captured sample data
Overview
Description
This dataset contains 64 images of Capture Panels and a list of them.
DARTS releases some of the basic data which show the representative shape types of impact tracks identified using the CPs, while eliminating biases. As a result, the 64 images were selected.
All the data and the details of the impact tracks and the analysis results will be provided in a database being prepared by the University of Aizu.
Sample list
The sample list is available by Excel and PDF. The following columns are included in the list :
- impact ID - see Image files below.
- panel ID - the CP positions (D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, and Q) on the ExHAM and the exposed year of the four-year-long mission (1, 2, 3, 4).
- retrieved year - year when the CPs were retrieved.
- exposure duration on ISS
- magnification
- morphology type - four typical types of track morphologies were classified as Pit craters, Carrot tracks, Straight tracks, and Teardrop tracks
- sample (track) size - S, M, L, LL
“-” in the list indicates that detailed information on the data has not yet been prepared and will be available in the next verion.
Please see the explanation document for more details about the samples and each column of the list.
Image files
64 image files are stored at the data directory.
The file name is a combination of image number and “impact ID”, where the impact ID consists of :
- Face … [S, E, N (Space, Earth, North)]
- Panel position … [D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, and Q]
- Exposed year … [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Where the impact occurs … [A (Aerogel)]
- Given number uniquely … [NNNN]
- True, False and Undefined of hypervelocity impact tracks by microparticles … [T, F, U]
