About Hitomi

Hitomi (ASTRO-H) is the sixth X-ray astronomy satellite launched on February 17, 2016. Hitomi was built by a major international collaboration led by JAXA with over 70 contributing institutions in Japan, the US (NASA/GSFC, Stanford University), Canada (CSA), and Europe (ESA, SRON, CEA/DSM/IRFU, Université de Genevé). On March 26, 2016, JAXA lost contact with the satellite and on April 28 ceased the efforts to restore the operations.
