OSIRIS-REx Bennuサンプルキュレーションデータセット
概要
説明
The contents of this dataset primarily stem from the initial and detailed description work conducted as part of the Bennu sample curation led by the Astromaterials Science Research Group (ASRG). OSIRIS-REx (Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, and Security-Regolith Explorer) is NASA’s first asteroid sample return mission, launched in 2016. The OSIRIS-REx spacecraft collected samples from the B-type near-Earth asteroid (101955) Bennu [1]. In August 2024, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) received approximately 0.5 wt % of the total Bennu sample mass (equivalent to 6.6 g) from NASA. These samples were then curated in JAXA’s curation facility [2]. A series of initial descriptions were carried out in a clean chamber, free from contaminants such as air or dust, and the results are cataloged in this dataset. This dataset includes measurements taken using an optical microscope, balance, a Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectrometer, a hyperspectral infrared imaging system called MicrOmega [3, 4], and an optical multi-band imager with filters compatible with the telescopic optical navigation camera (ONC-T) onboard the Hayabusa2 spacecraft [5, 6, 7].
Measurement Methods
- Optical microscope: VHX-8000 (Keyence Co., Ltd.)
- Balance: AD4212D-33S (A & D Co., Ltd.)
- Micro-Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (micro-FTIR): VIR-200 and IRT-5200 (JASCO Co., Ltd.)
- MicrOmega: A Near Infrared (NIR) hyperspectral microscope developed at the Institut d’Astrophysique Spatiale (Orsay, France).
- Microscopic COlor and SHape Imager (MICOSHI): A visible multispectral imaging system with six bandpass filters (center wavelengths of 388, 475, 551, 588, 699, 852 nm) (Cho et al., 2022). Detailed calibration and error analysis of the MICOSHI system are provided by Yumoto et al. (2024).
