Suzaku XIS data
Overview
Description
This dataset contains processed data observed by the X-ray Imaging Spectrometer (XIS) onboard the Suzaku (ASTRO-E2) satellite. The data are stored in the FITS format. The XIS instrument consists of four X-ray CCD cameras, XIS0, XIS1, XIS2, and XIS3. The XIS data were processed by the Suzaku team and HEASARC/GSFC for consistency. The final processing for all Suzaku XIS observations using version 3.0 was completed in 2016.
Retrieve Data
Data may be obtained via https.
Retrieve via wget
The Suzaku science data can be retrieved from DARTS at ISAS using wget. The following are the commands to retrieve your sequence using wget.
If you have wget, type the following command (replace 101005010 with your sequence number):
wget -nv -m -np -nH --cut-dirs=3 -R “index.html*” --execute robots=off --wait=1 https://data.darts.isas.jaxa.jp/pub/suzaku/ver3.0/101005010/
Prepared scripts to download all the SUZAKU data and each category: Caribration / Galactic Compact Sources (stars, CV, NS, BH, XRB) / Galactic Diffuse / Extragalactic Compact / Extragalactic Diffuse / Gammma-Ray Burst on other non-proposal TOO (Super Novae)
Decrypt the data
The script “decrypt_data.pl”, which can be obtained from HEASARC, allows you to decrypt Suzaku data encrypted with PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) or GPG. You need PGP or GPG to run decrypt_data.pl (how to obtain PGP or GPG). For the usage of decrypt_data.pl, please follow the instruction on the HEASARC page.

Science Data
-
On 25 October 2016, the final processing for all Suzaku observations using version 3.0 is complete.
Full list of processing versions can be see at NASA/GSFC -
Version 2 data
The ver2/ directory contains all the version 2 public data. If there are two or more versions on the same sequence, the last version is put in this directory. The ver2.X/ directories (where X is a minor version) contain the version2.X data, either encrypted or public. If you found the same sequences in ver2/ and ver2.X/ directories, they are linked and identical.
Note that on 16 August 2007, we changed the directory name from rev2.X/ to ver2.X.Y/. Since September 2008, we have stopped the release of the version 1 data.

Data Analysis
General information for Suzaku data analysis is described in the Suzaku Data Analysis page at NASA/GSFC.
Also, the Suzaku Data Analysis Page is available at DARTS, which was originally maintained by the Suzaku project at ISAS.
Manuals
“Suzaku Data Reduction Guide (ABC Guide)” is available at NASA/GSFC.
Analysis Tools
The standard tools for Suzaku data analysis are included with HEAsoft released by HEASARC at NASA/GSFC. The list of Suzaku FTOOLS is summarized by HEASARC.
In addition to analysis tools, the Suzaku Calibration Files in the Calibration Database (CALDB) are required.
- Calibration Files Mirror at DARTS
- Calibrartion Files at NASA/GSFC
Instructions for installing the CALDB are available from the CALDB Installation page at NASA/GSFC.
