In this proposal we ask for a 40 ks observation of the accreting HMXB 4U1538-522 to conduct the most sensitive study to date of the wide range of characteristics of the broad band (0.1-100 keV) spectrum over a quarter of a binary orbit and with pulse phase. When one considers the ~50% duty cycle of Suzaku observations, the proposed observation will yield coverage of a quarter of the binary orbit.
