This will constrain the disc emission and Fe line profile in this state, both of which are currently very controversial. LMC X-3 has very low interstellar absorption, so gives the best view of the low temperature/low luminosity disc component in this state. Its moderate flux means it can be observed in standard imaging modes without pileup (further enhancing visibility of the disc as these modes are well calibrated down to 0.4 keV) and making the Fe line profile analysis straightforward. Historically LMC X-3 enters a low/hard state on average once a year. Suzaku will be triggered based on an alert from our Swift monitoring program that the source has entered the low/hard state. | GALACTIC POINT SOURCES | 4 | A | MARI KOLEHMAINEN | EUR | 7 | AO7-TOO | A TOO OF LMC X-3: IS THE DISC TRUNCATED IN THE LOW/HARD STATE OF BLACK HOLE BINARIES? | XIS | Y | https://data.darts.isas.jaxa.jp/pub/suzaku/ver3.0/407086010/ | Quick Look |
