This requires estimates of the expansion velocity and mass swept-up the pulsar wind nebulae, best obtained by analyzing the spectrum of the thermal X-rays emitting by this material. In the proposal, we request a 50ks observation of four of the most energetic pulsar wind nebulae in the Milky Way to both detect such thermal X-ray emission and use the measured spectral properties to infer the ejecta mass and kinetic energy of their progenitor supernova and the initial spin period of the central neutron star -- all currently unmeasurable using the currently available information. | GALACTIC DIFFUSE EMISSION | 5 | C | JOSEPH GELFAND | USA | 3 | AO3 | STUDYING THE PROGENITOR SUPERNOVA AND CENTRAL NEUTRON STAR OF PULSAR WIND NEBULAE | XIS | Y | https://data.darts.isas.jaxa.jp/pub/suzaku/ver3.0/503087010/ | Quick Look |
