One source is near the colliding wind binary RCW 49, which has been suggested as the accelerator, and would therefore represent a new source class if there is no other plausible accelerator in the neighborhood. The other is a very bright source first detected by MILAGRO in the Galactic plane, which has been shown to be a large, extended source by HESS. While there is in each case a proposed X-ray counterpart, only a part of each nebula has been imaged in hard X-rays, and so it is unknown if there are other, more plausible counterparts.
