Little is known about G189; ROSAT images show a shell-like structure about 1.5$^{circ}$ in diameter, but it has never been observed with modern X-ray telescopes. Its association, or lack thereof, with IC 443 is unknown. It may not be a supernova remnant at all; a superbubble origin for the X-ray emission also provides an intriguing possibility. Spatially-resolved spectroscopy with Suzaku will allow the detailed measurement of the plasma properties, illuminating the nature of this object. Determining the nature of G189 will help to probe the evolution of the ISM driven by the deaths of massive stars.
