The clusters, two at z ~ 1.0 and two at z ~ 0.75, are chosen from an initial mass-limited sample identified by the South Pole Telescope (SPT) cluster project, and they are among the most massive high-redshift clusters known. Chandra observations have verified the absence of point sources in these targets. The proposed Suzaku observations will increase the X-ray cluster counts by a factor of four, they will yield the most precise ICM abundance measurements at these redshifts to date, and they will provide a path-finder for future Suzaku studies of large, representative samples of high-redshift clusters.
