HINODE Instruments

Hinode is equipped with three instruments, Solar Optical Telescope (SOT), X-Ray Telescope (XRT), and Extreme-ultraviolet Imaging Spectrometer (EIS). They work together as an observatory.

Solar Optical Telescope (SOT)

SOT has an 0.2 arcsec resolution for the observation of solar magnetic fields. It includes the Focal Plane Package (FPP) vector magnetograph and spectrograph, with three CCD cameras: Filtergraph (FG), Spectro-polarimeter (SP), and Correlation Tracker (CT). more details

X-Ray Telescope (XRT)

XRT has a 2 arcsec resolution that is three times as high as Yohkoh. XRT consists of the X-ray and visible light optics, focal plane mechanisms (filters and shutter), and the 2k x 2k CCD camera. The Mission Data Processor (MDP) also plays a vital role for XRT. more details

Extreme-ultraviolet Imaging Spectrometer (EIS)

EIS will provide monochromatic images of the transition region and corona at high cadence using a slot. High spectral resolution images can be obtained by rastering with a slit. more details
